Infographics: A Decade of Success

Over the last 10+ years, infographics have exploded in popularity in virtually every industry. From digital marketing to workplaces, and classrooms, infographics are being used everywhere to communicate complex information in a visually engaging way. If you’re new to the world of design, however, the term “infographic” may still be foreign to you.

What is an infographic?

Essentially, an infographic is a form of visual communication meant to capture attention and enhance comprehension. It is a collection of imagery, charts, and minimal text that gives an easily digestible overview of a topic. Infographics are a valuable tool for visual communication. While the first goal for a successful infographic is to grab the reader’s attention and not let go, it’s crucial to remember that the visuals in an infographic must do more than excite and engage. This leads to the second goal, which is to help the reader to both understand and remember the content.

Why are infographics used?

Infographics are great to make complex information easy to take in. There are many possible uses in many industries:

  • A medical worker could display information to the public on how to be safe during a pandemic
  • An HR manager may want to explain the on-boarding process to new employees
  • An analyst could display research findings or survey
  • A marketer may need to summarize a long report
  • An advisor might want to compare and contrast multiple options
  • A science teacher could demonstrate a complicated process
  • A non-profit might use one to raise awareness about an issue or cause

No matter the field, when you need to give someone a really quick rundown on something that can be hard to explain in words alone, an infographic could be the answer. Let R2 help your company get started today.
